A very different charming video

The last time sarah_ovenall mentioned this, I went hunting but couldn't find it. But now, YouTube has a copy of "Sing Before Breakfast" from Broadway Melody of 1936, starring Buddy Ebsen and his sister and long-time dance partner Vilma as well as Eleanor Powell. It's exactly as cheerful as the title would indicate.

Mickey Mouse was really big at that time. Searching on "mickey mouse merchandise" and 1935 got me a quote: "Meanwhile, Disney’s Mickey Mouse toys dominated the marketplace. By 1935, Mickey Mouse merchandise earned more money than Mickey Mouse cartoons, a first in motion picture history."

I can see happy-go-lucky, but I don't think it necessarily implies down at the heels. Mickey Mouse was huge business.
