As I was driving home from grocery shopping, they played "Pretzel Logic", the title song to Steely Dan's 1974 album. I'm not sure that I have ever heard "Pretzel Logic" on a commercial radio station before. This is remarkable.

I am so happy I found this station - once WLIR/WDRE finally died, NY radio was purely pathetic. This station gets it: it's not 'old', it's not 'new' that people want: they want good, creative, intelligent, adventurous music that doesn't conform to one specific, too-tightly confined genre or age group. You can't just play the same track or two from any given album. There is nowhere else in the NY metro area to get this radio quality. Sure, college stations play a variety of music, but too often it's too far out there and not relevant to a typical listening environment. If this station goes away, I will resort to Internet streaming to get exposure to this kind of material.

One other comment: poor NYers!! Outside of the NY metro radio region, there are lots of great stations. Just head up the Thruway and listen to 92.7/96.9-WRRV (exits 16-18), 100.1-WDST (exits 19-21A), 102.7-WEQX (exit 20-24, most of the way up the Northway), 103.5/103.9-the Edge (exit 22-24), and there are lots more in my car stereo's memory. I actually think the same company owns WDST and 107.1 - they both advertise 'world-class music' and both play an excellent collection of music. It's sad that it's so rare this close to NYC.
