I fell way behind in March thanks to the combination of the Conference and the Habitat Renewal outburst last weekend in advance of [livejournal.com profile] calimac's visit, so I just got to this piece posted by [livejournal.com profile] drelmo (which he in turn got from Pharyngula):

A man in Flint, Michigan is building a Stonehenge-like circle of standing stones in his back yard, using mostly pre-Bronze Age technology. By himself.

(I say "mostly" because even in the section we see, he uses a garden hose. It's easy to imagine Paelolithic builders using a bucket brigade to do the same thing.)

Similar techniques were almost certainly used to erect the Moai. They're amazing to watch in practice.

Would the irregularity of the shapes of the stones make a difference?
