Slowly catching up on LJ
Apr. 1st, 2007 07:38 pmI fell way behind in March thanks to the combination of the Conference and the Habitat Renewal outburst last weekend in advance of
calimac's visit, so I just got to this piece posted by
drelmo (which he in turn got from Pharyngula):
A man in Flint, Michigan is building a Stonehenge-like circle of standing stones in his back yard, using mostly pre-Bronze Age technology. By himself.
(I say "mostly" because even in the section we see, he uses a garden hose. It's easy to imagine Paelolithic builders using a bucket brigade to do the same thing.)
Similar techniques were almost certainly used to erect the Moai. They're amazing to watch in practice.
