And my big news for the month

Since May, I've been working for Vie Securities, Inc. This is a small company, the remnants of a dot-com-like electronic trading firm called (at various points in its life) Optimark and Ashton. Vie has been slowly moving toward profitability, but it has been running at a loss at least since it became Vie.

Well, today was our big announcement: Vie is being bought out by Piper Jaffray. Piper is a major player in the financial management world, so I am finally working for a company with a secure future.

(Technically, the deal is not final until next quarter after a shareholder vote. However, the shareholders are almost certain to approve.)

Yay us!

Congratulations on a potentially stable work environment! (Must admit it gave me a start to see the name Ashton in relation to a dot-com as it reminded me of my days with the late, lamented Ashton-Tate.)
