What We're Not Seeing

We've fallen so far down the hole of public disinformation, that B.D. was the first injured soldier I've seen from Iraq.

Which is why, I suspect, that Trudeau has chosen to follow that storyline now. He's always had a very sharp political understanding, and certainly would be aware of how successful Bushco's efforts to 'de-personalise' the American losses in Iraq have been, even more so the injury toll. This storyline picks up that subject and slaps it right in the reader's face. Wonder how many right-wing newspapers have dropped Doonesbury this last week?

I would say to Sanderson, no, we have not "fallen so far down the hole of public disinformation"; it is he who has not sought out injured soldiers to see. The stories and pictures of real men and women have been published. Brandon Olson is not a fictional character in a comic strip; where was Sanderson when the Washington Post published this picture in November of 2003?

And there certainly are more.
