Still more spam numbers

I came across another document of my spam volume in years past.

In another post to rec.arts.sf.fandom in 2002, I said:

So I get about 20 pieces of spam a day, plus some small amount more
which is blocked by Panix. I can't see how that would make my e-mail
"unusable". I think that I would have to get 100-200 spams a day on a
single account to make that account unusable. Are there really people
who get that many on a single account?

And here we are a year later, and I'm getting about 88 pieces of spam a day. Maybe the Cassandras are right.

I just cleaned out my Postini filter (which my ISP installed this past spring) and had, for two days, about 85 messages trapped therein, five of which were real messages from mailing lists I'm on. Meanwhile, it did not trap about 5 or so real spam, including two identical ones informing me, in large unfriendly letters, that they were billing my credit card because I'm a pornographer or some other evildoer -- there was a list -- and *then* requesting my credit card number! (I wonder how many people fell for that.)

During the Sobig plague of late August-early September I sometimes got several hundred spam in my Postini file, and fifty to a hundred in my regular e-mail, each day there for awhile. (There were almost two thousand in my Postini file when I came back from Canada.) But since Postini caught most of it and I was eagle-eyed enough to delete nearly all the rest without opening any of it (and have Norton Antivirus updated regularly to deal with the rest!) nothing was damaged but my patience.

i get above 200 spams to a single email account a day. but that's the account that gets mail for group-advice and moderators-request. it doesn't make the account unusable because i have decent spam filtering rules; very little actually gets through to my inbox. but whenever i clean out the spam folder, i grit my teeth and want to kill.

Urm...I'm getting about 150 per day in my main account. The one on my own domain that's not used publically, so far, hasn't gotten any.
