News I would have missed without my flist

Despite governing one of the bluest of blue states, the New York state senate has been Republican-dominated for about the last 2 gazillion years; the Democrats only had a 2-seat majority in the wake of the Obama sweep, and only held that for 2 years before it fell back into Republican hands.

Last year, the New York State Senate defeated a proposal to legalize gay marriage when several Democratic senators voted against it. I believe that at least 3 of those 4 3 of those senators have since been indicted or convicted on criminal charges. It turns out that one of those is also no longer secretly gay. Oh, and he's apparently massively corrupt.

What a shithead. But then, he's a New York Republican senator; it goes with the territory.

ETA: Corrections because I was writing in a hurry.

I'm afraid I was mistaken when I said four Democrats voted "no" on gay marriage, the actual count was eight (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2009/12/gay-marriage-fails-24-38.html). You may be thinking of the "Gang of Four," three of whom have faced charges (Espada, Monserrate and Kruger).

The only thing worse then a gay homophobe in a position of power is one who votes to suppress the rights of his/her own kind.
Please, let there be an especially vile place in hell for people like him.

Hmm? A DINO, then?
