Spam: Not going away

I use Panix's spamassassin implementation. It catches about 96% of the spam that I get. This means that only around 20 spams per day get through to where I see them.

Jesus, all that wasted electricity.

On the other hand, I can't help remembering Keith Lynch confidently predicting "We've lost email. Enjoy it while you still can. In a year or two email will be gone, useless." -- seven years ago!

FWIW, my spam catch rate is much higher than that, around 99% or so. I think this is a combination of lowering the defaults on SA (I have it so anything above 3.3 goes to a spambox) and doing per-domain username tricks.
