(I started a different post earlier on a completely different topic and then realized, hey, I can probably find that out in ten seconds with teh Google; and I did. But this one, not so much.)

Has anyone ever essayed a retelling of King Lear in the style of Edward Lear?

Not that I know of, but MAD Magazine once ran a series of fake book covers, the kind you'd use to cover up books you don't want to be seen reading, but which reveal their real purposes in tiny type, one of which read something like "the sleazy novel hidden behind this innocent cover is raunchy enough to make a KING LEER".

Don't do this to me! I have other stuff I'm supposed to be writing--important stuff--and now all I can think of is

"There was an old man with three daughters
Who said 'Girls, I've decided you oughter
