Courageous Update
Nov. 14th, 2003 12:47 amAs those of you who read the LJs of
supergee and
nellorat know, we had quite a bit of unpleasant excitement with our dear kittykins on Saturday last--the day after I posted about how she was doing well and happily in her porch. The short form is that the workmen who came to install plexiglass windows for the porch, so that she could spend the winter in the porch instead of moving back to the garage, let her out and she disappeared for several hours. But she turned up fine--in the garage, to give it that extra special layer of super-kung-fu irony--and went back into the porch. I didn't write about this immediately because I kept waiting for the next irony-laced shoe to drop, but at this point, if something happens, it's a separate story.
On Tuesday, I finally managed to get her a new space heater, which has been running in the porch for a couple of days. It seems to work well; today, with the temperature outside in the low 40s (and bitching intense wind), it kept the porch at around 60, which is good for a thick-furred cat. She's eating well and eagerly, as she always does the week after her shot. She has lost a little weight, which isn't great; I think I'll recommend that supergee give her the high-calorie food for a couple of days. But otherwise, she's a happy kitty.
