I didn't get to NYRSF today. I didn't clean the rat boys' tower cage. I didn't go to the library, or dinner, or comics shopping.

Instead, I got to sit with [livejournal.com profile] supergee in the emergency room of Montefiore Hospital for three hours while they made sure that he didn't have any hidden head trauma from when the airbag hit him in the face. And then I got to go to Autorama Enterprises and clear all our belongings out of our 2001 Subaru Legacy GT wagon in the expectation that when the insuance adjustor sees the car, it will be declared a total loss.

I've certainly had worse days. But this isn't one of the good ones.

If you can actually catch the mass media news talking about politics these days, they're likely to be talking about Sid Blumenthal's doorstop-history, The Clinton Wars. And most of them, well, sir, they don't like it.

There's a reason for this, and Josh Marshall sums it up in one of his wonderfully direct sentences:

Blumenthal is disliked by many in DC because he is a critic -- and to my mind, a devastating one -- of their vapidity, ignorance and willingness to be used.

This is such a perfect precis that I will forgive Marshall for his misuse of "exception that proves the rule" a paragraph later.
