People who used to ask me to send them anything (t-shirts, stuffed animals, posters) with an American flag on it. As far as they're concerned now, we can shove it all up our collective ass.

Hitler was responsible for some 57 million deaths (http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/warstat1.htm).

Iraqi Body Count (http://www.iraqbodycount.org/) puts documented civilian deaths at about 75,000. I'm sure quite a few have been missed. US deaths are at a little under 4000.

Here's the Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_conflict_in_Iraq_since_2003). It mentions the Lancet survey study which concludes that there were about 650,000 excess deaths as of 2006.

I think it's fair to say that GWB isn't in the same class as Hitler. Bush is responsible for less than a million deaths, and didn't run on a pro-genocide platform.

The majority of Germans don't have experience with Hitler.

As a professional in language and rhetoric, I am indignant at the idea a charismatic speaker of Hitler's excellence being compared to a tin-ear bumbler like Bush.

Um, yeah, and the genocide thing.

But there is a comparison, Godwin's Law aside: maybe different shit, both assholes.
