LJ Comment Spam
Aug. 17th, 2006 08:39 pmFor several months, I've received occasional anonymous comments that I assumed were spam. The comments are always in response my political posts, and are always in this form:
I finally got around to setting my LJ to screen anonymous comments and record the IP of the poster. I accidentally unthinkingly deleted one last week, but this morning I got another. It's from 206.15.101.139. Network Solutions Whois tells me this:
Morons. They aren't even smart enough to spam from a disguised server.
Unfortunately, LiveJournal doesn't allow you to ban comments by IP. So what recourse do I have now?
all lowercase sentence expressing shock at the latest developments ("i can't believe this is happening!"

Date: 2006-08-18 02:22 am (UTC)(When my letters are published in the local paper, and they are of a particular viewpoint, I used to get death threats which became merely cut out cartoons. All with no return address. Same with phone calls and e-mails. I could tell the ones from the left because they identified themselves and answered by calls/e-mails. The right wingers are such cowards.)
