As [livejournal.com profile] nellorat mentioned in her post yesterday, we had a maid service in on Friday to do as much as possible of the more mechanical, less thoughtful parts of house-cleaning: scrubbing, dusting, washing, vacuuming. For the most part, they did a great job, and I have spent much of the 24 hours since they left marveling at how we now have a house that looks so much like our old house except, you know, clean. "Who stole our living room?" is our household idiolect for this sentiment, except this time it applies to more than half the rooms in the house.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that. It's nice to have a house which is approximately clean.

It is nice, isn't it. Whenever we have it done, they boys spend a lot of time inhaling the "clean" smell.

I justify it that households are intended to have at least one person cleaning the habitat, and since I have to earn a living, I need to hire someone to do habitat cleaning.
