House cleaning

As nellorat mentioned in her post yesterday, we had a maid service in on Friday to do as much as possible of the more mechanical, less thoughtful parts of house-cleaning: scrubbing, dusting, washing, vacuuming. For the most part, they did a great job, and I have spent much of the 24 hours since they left marveling at how we now have a house that looks so much like our old house except, you know, clean. "Who stole our living room?" is our household idiolect for this sentiment, except this time it applies to more than half the rooms in the house.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that. It's nice to have a house which is approximately clean.

I've never paid anyone to clean my house, but I always feel that way after I do a big cleanup. Looking around in wonderment at the nice, cozy house that's normally buried under all that clutter.
