South Park Update

I enjoyed the two-part "Cartoon Wars" a fair amount, though again it wallowed in its pop culture references--could anyone who had not seen Family Guy enjoy it at all? "A Million Little Fibers" was, like most Towlie appearances, lackluster; and I haven't seen the episodes since, yet.

But the main reason I wanted to post was to point out that Lore Sjoberg did the entire "hybrid cars" episode in a three-panel strip more than a year ago. And funnier.

Something's f*ed up with LJ. I'll be typing in a box, and it'll forget how to accept keystrokes. Bummer. Anyway, last night's South Park was okay, and had some good moments. Last week's was a real suckfest. I thought the Towely ep was disappointing. His first appearance, I thought, was pretty good, with all the plot they had packed in it, combined with Towely's own lackadaisical approach. "Towely, you're the worst character ever." "I know." The boys' single-minded devotion to their Okama Game Sphere, and the insistence of every minor character in telling them all about the plot they were ignoring. But I ramble. Oh yes, I ramble, I'm a ramblin' man. Tired, too. And the box keeps... well, wandering off and getting high, from the looks of things...

I thought the Towlie episode was one of the worst things ever on television. Not funny, not particularly offensive, just disgusting. The Cartman episode was almost okay, but suffered from a lack of humor. South Park seems to be losing steam. Maybe they need Stephen Colbert...

A recent episode was about Al Gore, and its sole point appeared to be that Al Gore was a pathetic, friendless creep who believed that the world was threatened by something that was clearly an unreal fantasy.

So I guess I believe a lot more that "South Park Conservatism" is a real phenomenon.
