A quick test

Maybe I'll have time to write a full post this weekend. Until then, a geekery test.

Elite Reader
You have a Geek Lore rating of 80%

Sure, fans aren't Slans, but you're definitely something special. Your

knowledge of speculative literature has to be pretty damned impressive

to achieve this score. Long may you flip those pages!

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Ok - you have now scored what I am going to consider to be the highest possible score on this test. so grading on a curve... I still fail - oh well.

... maybe if I consider your score to include extra credit....

I notice that nobody on my friends list who has posted their scores did not score higher than 99% on Geek Lore. Truly, I am surrounded by geeks (and I wouldn't have it any other way).

I spent years looking for a culture of introverts (I didn't know that was the key word), full of people who didn't care how they or others looked and considered small talk a desperate recourse of people who weren't comfortable in their own heads. I am happy here."

and while I'm at it, from Bruce Sterling (who, if he's an lj user, I don't know it):
Follow your weird, ladies and gentlemen. Forget trying to pass for normal. Follow your geekdom. Embrace your nerditude. In the immortal words of Lafcadio Hearn, a geek of incredible obscurity whose work is still in print after a hundred years, "woo the muse of the odd."

Hey, Mike--do you remember years ago us having a conversation trying to establish whether we met in the bookstore in Milwaukee Airport in 1981? This photo clinches it--we did.

I know that I don't have much of a background in sci-fi/fantasy literature, but the graphic that said "Yours is a sad and lonely bookshelf" really hurt, dammit!

Interestingly, [personal profile] imnotandrei got exactly the same rating, power level, and so on.

I, however, scored 95%; got "Among the Gods" instead of "Elite Reader", and instead of a Matt Groening picture got a really neat Photoshopped graphic of Asimov and Heinlein on a background of lightning bolts.

70% ("Veteran Reader"). Tough test. I got pretty lucky with some intelligent guessing.
