One of these days, I'd like to do a full write-up of the gaming comics I read. One of the weirdnesses of my life is that two of my favorite comics right now are both extremely geeky comedies about gaming which are deliberately poorly drawn--Order of the Stick, with its Fisher-Price-meets-Cynicalman mininalist D&D adventuring party, and Knights of the Dinner Table, with its endless photocopied panels of five people sitting around a table. And I really love both PvP and Dork Tower, sentimental slapsticks about ubergeeks.

But this week, my hat is off to Aaron Williams's Full Frontal Nerdity, for introducing possibly the most needed and least anticipated concept in gaming: Maslow's Heirarchy of Gaming Revenge. Bravo.

(Note: If the link above to FFN doesn't work, try this other one instead. If that doesn't work, please drop me a comment.)

Too funny! And do we get bonus geek points for recognizing which game they're playing?

I would certainly think so.

That would be Settlers of Cataan.

BTW, I'm now hooked on FFN - thank you very much, as if I needed another time-waster. :-) Is there an LJ feed?

Would that be the more secular version of Settlers of Canaan (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/3655)?

Or do you just have a drawl?

And check BGG's (http://www.boardgamegeek.com) jazzy new look!

Thumbs up for BBG's new look!

And for all that I recognized the game, I may be the only living gamer who's never actually played any version of Settlers - I heard so many negative reviews of it that I was never able to convince myself that actually trying it would be a good idea.

Have you been reading Aaron Williams' PS 238 (http://www.ps238.com/)? Against all odds, he makes the "baby superheroes" schtick entertaining instead of grating. As a bonus, he latest issue gets in a few good jabs at Batman.

It's funny because [livejournal.com profile] dhole and I just introduced a couple of friends to Settlers this weekend.

Uh-oh. I just read it all, from Strip 1 to the present, in one sitting. I'll probably read FFN every week from now on. Damn you Max Powers!

I had to look up "Maslow", which is embarassing, but it was worth it for a good punchline.
