As many of you no doubt know, Panix (a major independent ISP in New York) has been attacked; its domain registration was stolen by a person or persons who have not quite been identified. They are working on correcting this, but it's going to take a while.

Any e-mail sent to a panix.com address is bouncing, or worse.

If you need to reach me, or [livejournal.com profile] supergee, or [livejournal.com profile] nellorat, or anyone else who makes hir e-mail home at Panix.com, you should send the e-mail to Panix.net instead. This should work for the indefinite future, though I expect the domain hijacking to end soon.

This did make me realize how many different sites I have signed up which use e-mail authentication. Fortunately, the site to which the e-mail is being misdelivered doesn't seem to be saving it. It's possible that site had nothing to do with the hijacking. But as a proof of concept, this hijacking is scary as hell--the staff at Panix are first-rate, and if they can get clobbered like this, anyone can get clobbered. Death of Internet; film at 11.
