The City, Not Long Before

I am going to be in Manhattan for the next four days. I don't know what protests I am going to be able to participate in; other than the Big March today, which I am missing, I haven't heard of any that seem quite right for me. But I'm proud of the people of New York for making it clear that we're not rolling over and calmly letting that "sadistic, yet cowardly, punk-ass bitch" crown himself with the bodies and dust of The Big Terrible.

Roaming around the city this morning for actorly reasons, I was finally able to put my finger on the emotional tone of what's going on here, what with the sort of grass roots swell of every random person doing whatever they can to protest -- random leaflets on lightpoles, directions to protests hanging out of windows, etc. -- people are acting like they're getting away with something, and getting away with it for the last time. It's got that same freaky gallows vibe as say September 13th, and it convinces me that on the Before - During - After scale of 9/11, that the results of this election are what usher in After.

This is the end of all sorts of things. I can only pray that it's the right ones.

Have fun. I don't expect this to be the last time it will be possible for me to speak out, but then, I've got a reason to expect martial LAW rather than the current martial rule in the United States, probably before or slightly after the election.
