That LJ-Friends meme thing
Jan. 14th, 2004 01:45 pmFrom all over. I usually skip the memes for various reasons, but some of my answers interested me enough that I wanted to get them down. This might be worth returning to in a few months if I've had a lot of turnover in my Friends.
1. Which 5 LJ friends have you known longest?
I'm certain about the first four:
tim_maroney (since 1965),
serenityseeker (since 1966 or so),
docbrite (since 1976 or 1977), and
sarah_ovenall (since mid-1984). The next three are
lavendertook,
nellorat, and
supergee, but I'm not certain what year it was when I met lavendertook, but it was when I was still in college. I met nellorat in summer 1985, I think, and re-met her and supergee early in 1986. There are relatively few people I'm still in touch with from before I graduated from college (I was there from 1982 to 1986), and as far as I know none of them are on LJ, though I've run into some on other online fora like Usenet and, surprisingly, Boardgamegeek. There are a burst of others who I met through sf fandom in the two years after college who are now here, like
redbird,
purplecat,
celestialabyss, and
pnh &
tnh.
2. Is/are your significant other/s on LJ?
Yes--nellorat and supergee.
3. Do you have LJ friends you've never met in real life?
Certainly. What would be the point of LJ if one didn't explore new people? To name just one,
bruceb, whom I have known for years through other fora. But he doesn't travel to the east coast much, and I don't travel to the west coast much, so I don't know when we'll ever meet.
4. Do you have friends that you met first on LJ, then in real life?
At least one--
gaztherat.
5. Do you discuss personal information in your LJ?
Isn't that question reflexive? Anyway, if you mean do I keep a log of all the times I've thanked the pig, no, but I do often talk about my day-to-day life and things that are only of interest to others if they're interested in me.
("Thanking the pig"--a euphemism we adopted after seeing Babe: Pig in the City, one of the oddest movies ever marketed to children.)
