Desperately out of power, the right-wing freakjobs resorted to turning this year's September 11th anniversary into the one thing it wasn't during the Rutherford Bush years: an unadulterated frenzy of Muslim-hatred and incitement to global war. Okay, Bush and Cheney and Wolfowitz and Powell and Rice and Rumsfeld and Gonzales--the Seven Dwarves of the Apocalypse--did manage to use the original day as their Reichstag fire and turn the US into a country which openly embraces torture and aggressive war. But they were careful to target only a few entire countries at a time, not one-sixth of the entire human race. The new voices of the GOP--the Anti-Trinity of Palingenesis, Salamander Gingrich, and Martin Luther Beck--are taking their orders from Satan's own prolapsed rectum, and they won't be satisfied until the entirety of the US is turned into a Ground Zero Theme park, washed clean of the stain of the Lesser Monotheists Without The Law. (They won't stop with just one, of course. Ethnic cleansing is a strong cocktail.)

Given the circumstances, I found it easier to just go and cultivate my own garden. NYRSF Work Weekend went smoothly, thank you, and I'm very pleased with how the issue came out.
