Wake up from my post-wakeup torpidity to my cellphone ringing at 7:20; my co-worker who performs the earliest of our morning checks has found a error. It's trivial, but takes me twenty minutes to fix, which means I'm in the shower when I get the next call that there's a much more serious problem. This takes me another fifteen minutes to diagnose (not a problem in our system at all!) so I'm on a train that gets me to work at 9:20. The markets open at 9:30.
We have problems all day. I identified eight major production issues over the course of the day, most of them completely unrelated to one another. I don't get to go to supergee's celebration; I don't, in fact, get home until 11:45 PM.
For those unwilling to do the math, that's 15 hours in crisis mode today.
