In an f-locked post, a friend recently commented that after having a cavity filled, her tooth felt fine but the rest of her mouth hurt like a very hurty thing indeed. I don't think I'll be violating any confidences by quoting this bit:

[The] power water cleaner thing hurt. It also made the worst noise I think I've ever heard, compounded by the fact that I heard it in my skull.

That reminded me: I've been getting a lot of sinusoscopies recently, recreationally. (No, I lie--they're preparatory to some upper-airways surgery--deviated septum, scraping the turbinates, and widening the openings to a couple of the sinuses.) Sinusoscopies not comfortable, even with a mild anaesthetic--there's one point at the back of the right side of my nasal passage which is very constricted and getting the probe through it hurts like hell. "This will pinch!" the doctor says, and yes, it's very much like being pinched on the inside of my skull. With an awl. Geez!

But there's weirdly wonderful feeling of seeing light come up from beneath one's eyes that almost makes the whole experience tolerable. Bodies are interesting, often.
