As I said on Twitter:

I'm happy to report that we got through with minimal immediate damage--no flooding or power loss or downed trees in our yard. However, our land-line phones *just* cut out for about 4 minutes, as a reminder that things are not, actually, normal or safe. Cartoonist Ruben Bolling, for instance, is out posting great photos of flooding in his low-lying 'hood in Manhattan, and a tree fell while he was watching.

So, hoping things remain calm for us.

And a sentiment from Anthony De Rosa

Don't mistake your merciful experience for the devastating one many are having today. Trust me, be thankful.

ETA: This photo is from Rye, New York, this morning. It's approximately across the street from the pharmacy that makes meds for our ratkids.

I commute on Metro North, the main remnant of the New York Central railway system, which provides commuter rail service for the northern and north-eastern suburbs of New York.

MTA's info page says this currently about Metro North:

Metro-North Railroad

Metro-North is experiencing major flooding at numerous locations on all lines and a mudslide on the Hudson Line at Spuyten Duyvil. There are multiple instances of power outages and trees tangled in overhead catenary wires. Crews are on hand throughout the system restoring infrastructure as conditions allow.

I note that the Spuyten Duyvil station is about 1700 feet from the apartment of [livejournal.com profile] redbird and [livejournal.com profile] cattitude. Everything's interconnected, especially in a very dense place like New York.
