Just a quick note, several days late, to say that we personally avoided any significant house damage from the rain last weekend. We did receive approximately two months' worth of rain in 36 hours--8" or so. Torrential rain causes our basement to flood, but this rain was steady over the whole period rather than torrential.
Most of the north-south highways in Westchester run alongside rivers;
nellorat had to take a completely different route home from work Sunday night to avoid flooded roads. By the time the storm was done, one part of the Bronx River Parkway was under a reported eight feet of water. Earlier, I did end up driving into about a foot of standing water on the highway; the car (Edmund, our valiant Subaru) slowed without stalling completely and managed to drive out. About 600 feet from that spot, maybe a mile from our house, the residents of an apartment building were evacuated by boat--photos of that hit the national wire and prompted my sister to call me to make sure everything was okay with us.
The rivers are still flooded--full or overfull and rushing. There are still standing pools of water alongside many of the highways; the highway exit nearest our house has a puddle large enough that it has attracted a family of ducks. Greenburgh, the next town north of us, still has major roads closed off. It's not a catastrophe, but it's an amazing amount of water.
I'm trying to get some usable pictures of the flooding with my new camera; if I succeed, I'll post them here.

My body and soul crave it.
Although perhaps not as much as you've gotten.
