Recommendation: Welcome to Barkeater Lake
One of the best new newspaper comic strips of the last few years is "Barkeater Lake", by Corey Pandolph. It's a quirky, low-key strip about the denizens of Barkeater Lake, New York, a small Adirondack town.
It's coming to an end as a newspaper strip in January. However, collections of the strip are coming; the first, Welcome to Barkeater Lake, is in pre-orders right now through the artist's temporary blog. The first 250 pre-orders get a free hand-illustration in their copies.
