The fafblog quote was very funny, but it looks as though the public is happy enough with Bush's foreign policy. In the interests of truth rather than humor, I don't think people voted for Bush hoping he'd change what he was doing, they voted for him expecting that his policies would work.
Bush ran on a fear platform--"the rest of the world is scary, and only Bush can keep you safe"--and now he's starting to get people afraid of him with the social security changes he wants.
